Documenting the lives of twins Benjamin and Lewis throughout the twentieth-century, ChatwinÂ’s novel rarely moves away from the farmstead of the Jones family which lies on the England/Wales border. Whilst the novel documents the harsh reality of rural life in the twentieth century it is ultimately a hopeful book, especially in the documentation of the unique relationship between the two twin brothers.
