A book looking at the diverse field of English-language poetry from Wales. It adopts a thematic approach, exploring the field through the prisms of politics, nationhood, gender, the environment, external influences (particularly Welsh language, American and Irish), experimentation in form and language. Poets such as R S Thomas, Dannie Abse, and Gwyneth Lewis are considered.
