Mae Màrtainn yn fardd a nofelydd sydd wedi’i gyfieithu i sawl iaith. Bydd yn rhannu detholiad o’i waith ar y noson, gan gynnwys cerddi a luniodd tra’n teithio drwy’r Alban, Cymru a Chatalwnia yn 2021. Bydd rhain yn cael eu cyhoeddi maes o law fel A’ Ruith Eadar Dà Dhràgon (Rhedeg rhwng dwy ddraig)

Cyfrol pedairieithog fydd hon a cherddi gwreiddiol Màrtainn yn yr Aeleg wedi’u cyfieithu i’r Gymraeg, Catalaneg a’r Saesneg. Ifor ap Glyn sy’n gyfrifol am y cyfieithiadau i’r Gymraeg a bydd cyfle i glywed rhai o’r rheini ar y noson, yn ogystal â cherddi eraill ganddo yntau sydd wedi’u hysbrydoli gan y cysylltiad rhwng y ddwy wlad a’r ddwy iaith.

Màrtainn is a Gaelic poet and novelist whose work has been translated into several languages. He’ll be sharing a selection of his work, including poems that he wrote on a journey through Cymru and Catalunya in 2021. These will be published later this year as A’ Ruith Eadar Dà Dhràgon (Running between two dragons)

This will be a quadrilingual collection with Màrtainn’s original Gàidhlig appearing side by side with translations into Cymraeg, Catalan and English. Ifor ap Glyn is responsible for the translations into Cymraeg and there’ll be an opportunity to hear some of these on the evening as well as other poems by himself, inspired by the connections between Gàidhlig and Cymraeg.

A Nation of Shopkeepers
Dan Evans efo Mabli Siriol

"Ever since Thatcher, a shopkeeper’s daughter and the very incarnation of the petty bourgeoisie, the social condition of isolated work and the competitive individualism of this class has extended far beyond its confines to exert a pervasive hold on society.

Moreover, it now provides a lodestar for the left: Evans locates the petty bourgeoisie alongside the despised professional-managerial sector, with whom they share cultural traits, as the dominant force in Labour. This explains the party’s abandonment of working-class, redistributive aims." MS
